Bondoc si Asociatii has successfully assisted the Bucharest Municipality

by Bondoc & Asociatii May 4, 2022

Bondoc si Asociatii has successfully assisted the Bucharest Municipality in connection with the legal assistance required in connection with the offering for subscription under a private placement addressed exclusively to qualified investors of a number of 55,500 bonds, with a total nominal value of RON 555,000,000. The bond issuance was intermediated by the syndicate composed of BRD Groupe Societe Generale S.A. and Raiffeisen Bank S.A. Our assistance covered also the admission to trading of the bonds on the regulated market administered by Bucharest Stock Exchange (main tier, municipal bond category) which took place on April 29, 2022.

The capital markets team involved in the project was coordinated by Simona Petrisor (Partner) with the support of Diana Ispas (Partner) and also included Alexandru Achim (Senior Associate), Silviu Vasiliu (Associate) and Alexandra Bunea-Mihai (Junior Associate)

We appreciate having had the opportunity to assist the Bucharest City Hall with this successful bond issuance. It was a particularly challenging project mainly due to the geopolitical context, the timing of our appointment, as well as the relative novelty of the applicable legal framework and would like to thank the entire team involved in making it a successful story”, said Simona Petrisor, partner within Bondoc and Asociatii SCA.

"We are pleased to have been able to contribute to the success of this bond issue, which is even more significant in the current international context surrounding financial markets. This is a precedent-setting transaction being the first municipal bond issue to benefit from a more flexible European legal framework, adapted to public authorities' bond issuances, an example that we hope will inspire other Romanian municipalities to trust the local capital market, by using traditional issuances and, why not, green or with the sustainability component”, said Diana Ispas, partner within Bondoc and Asociatii SCA.
