Athénée Palace Hilton Bucharest welcomes Tim Schmidt as New Head Chef

by InterContinental Athénée Palace Bucharest December 12, 2018

Athénée Palace Hilton Bucharest is pleased to announce the appointment of Tim Schmidt as the hotel’s head chef.

Rainer Gieringer, general manager Athénée Palace Hilton, said: “I am absolutely delighted to welcome Chef Schmidt to the team, especially in this moment when the hotel is preparing for the dazzling celebrations of Christmas and New Year’s Eve. I look forward to Chef Schmidt’s contributions and his vision for our property both during the festive season and further in his engagement at Athénée Palace Hilton.”

Schmidt brings 13 years of experience in hospitality to his new position at Athénée Palace Hilton. Prior to Bucharest, Schmidt was the executive chef of Hilton Cologne in Germany, in charge of both the kitchen operations for the restaurant and banqueting teams, as well as the coordination of the hotel’s catering events. Before joining the Hilton family in 2015, the food professional has held several chef positions in hotels and restaurants across Europe, such as ME Hotel London, The Bleeding Heart restaurant in London, Hotel Salzburger Hof in Bad Gastein, Grand Spa Resort A-Rosa Kitzbuhel, and Kempinski Hotels in Hamburg and Moscow.

Schmidt is a graduate of Freie Waldorf School, Hannover-Maschsee, holding his apprenticeship in Restaurant Die Insel, Hannover and further developing his culinary vocation in The Gastronomic Training Centre of Koblenz.

Speaking of his appointment, Schmidt said:  “It’s an honor to start working in this landmark hotel and it’s a challenge that I’m very excited about. I feel pleased that I can experience this beautiful city and I am looking forward to my time here in the Athénée Palace Hilton Bucharest.”

In Athénée Palace Hilton Bucharest Chef Schmidt will helm the hotel’s culinary team, handling both the kitchen operations in the hotel’s restaurants – Roberto’s, Café Athénée, and English Bar, as well as the room service and outside catering services.
