Hospitality group Accor is adding to its presence in Hungary with the signing of Swissôtel Budapest Lagoon. This flagship project is the result of a partnership between Accor and the Swiss real estate developer Forty Management. The property is set to open in 2028, becoming Accor’s first premium brand in the country.
Featuring 200 rooms and apartments overlooking a state-of-the-art man-made lagoon by the Danube River, the ESG-conscious project is set to become a beacon of innovative hospitality in the region. Lagoon City is a green urban reconversion of a former industrial area, and will be 100% self-sustainable in terms of energy needs thanks to environmentally friendly technologies, such as solar panels and heat pumps.
Founded in 1980, the premium Swissôtel brand is deeply rooted in the tradition of Swiss hospitality. Acknowledged by guests for its intuitive, authentic design, craftsmanship and purposeful approach to sustainability, Swissôtel infuses guests with the vitality of Alpine energy and inspiration to explore the world, discover life’s true rewards and embrace opportunities of well-being.
The brand-new Swissôtel property will serve as the hospitality hub for the Central District Lagoon City, a vibrant community built around a 10,000 sq m artificial lagoon with crystal-clear water and 3,500 sq m of sandy beaches.

Central District Lagoon City is developed by Forty Management, a Swiss real estate developer of innovative mixed-use projects and urban reconversion, 100% owned by the Romanian entity Forty Management S.A.
