PwC Celebrates 25 years in Romania

by PwC October 3, 2016

On September 27, PwC marked 25 years of activity in Romania through a gala event, which gathered 500 high level representatives from the business community, civil society, public authorities and the Government. The event proposed an innovative and interactive approach – “Symphony No. 25 in Innovation major”, focused on two key themes: performance and innovation.

In the opening, former Country Managing Partners Jean-Pierre Vigroux and Vasile Iuga looked back on the early challenges and achievements of the firm over the 25 years. Ionut Simion, current Country Managing Partner of PwC Romania and AmCham President stated that “during these 25 years since the company was established, many changes took place and many more will come. Only this time, a series of transformations that have disruptive effect may appear and may represent a turning point in the history of our civilization. We believe that the three factors that fuel and generate this change are technology, innovation and the sharing economy.”

Building up the momentum for the main part of the evening, Miha Pogacnik - violinist, motivational speaker and cultural ambassador of Slovenia, used music as a metaphor of how leaders can add value in their businesses. His act of virtuosity emphasised the need for diversity, curiosity, change and sharing experiences in order to achieve success in organisation.
The highlight of the evening was the performance of a short piece from Carmina Burana by Carl Orff, not by a professional orchestra but all the guests, after only 45 minutes of practice. A concept called Orchestrate, the moment was proof of how collaboration can open new perspectives and create amazing results.

Prime Minister Dacian Cioloș also joined the event as guest of honour. He congratulated PwC Romania for the contribution to the development of the Romanian business environment. He also expressed his commitment to further strengthen the Government’s efforts to ease doing business in Romania by working together with private companies representatives in the Coalition for the Development of Romania and other initiatives such as Competitive Romania project.

The anniversary event also enjoyed the presence of special guests Olga Grygier-Siddons – CEO of PwC Central and Eastern Europe, and Bojidar Neythcev - Managing Partner of PwC in South East Europe, who received the role of “first violin” in the collective performance. Olga Grygier-Siddons noted that at this time when Romanian businesses are going international, the firm is ready to support their development through the services provided by the wider PwC global network.
