by Deloitte Romania July 14, 2016

New Edition of the Green Frog Award Competition Announced

Deloitte Romania invites companies to register for the 16th edition of the Central European Sustainability Report Award “Green Frog Award” which aims to identify and reward excellence in corporate non-financial reporting in Central Europe.

“The Green Frog Award is a great opportunity for companies to showcase their sustainability practices and the way they consciously and actively manage their economic, social and environmental impact,” said Andrei Ionescu, Enterprise Risk Services Partner and program coordinator with Deloitte Romania. “Sustainability is no longer a fad, but integral part of the operations carried out by the largest Central European companies. If linked closely with business strategy, it can lead to business success in the long-term and better financial performance. Therefore, I strongly encourage companies which publish non-financial data to take part in this contest

The Green Frog Award competition is divided into a national and Central European level. Reports rewarded at the national level will be automatically nominated to the regional level. Organizations can submit social reports, CSR reports, sustainability reports, integrated reports that cover previous one-two financial year(s). The reports should be prepared according to the following guidelines: GRI G3.1, GRI G4, IIRC, EU Directive 2014/95/EU, UN Global Compact, ISO 26000, etc. They can be submitted by private companies, public organizations, as well as foundations or universities. At the national level companies can submit the reports in the local language or English. At the CE level reports will have to be submitted only in English, because the regional jury will be international. Last year, when the competition was organized for the first time in Romania, Ursus Breweries received a distinction at CE level. Both Ursus Breweries and KMG International won the local competition.

The final date when companies can submit reports is 16 September 2016. To learn more details about the Green Frog Award competition please see www.deloitte.com/greenfrog.

Starting from January 2017, the EU will require the largest EU companies to disclose non-financial and diversity information. In order to be ready for the new legislation, companies should start their preparations right now. Participation in the Green Frog Award is a good opportunity to do that.
