  • 101 recent graduates joined EY Romania in September 2015, the highest number of fresh graduates that joined the company so far.
  • EY Romania is the most attractive employer in consultancy in the country, and the most sought after employer out of the Big4, according to studies conducted by Catalyst and Trendence 2015.
  • EY Romania ranks first as the company of choice for high potential graduates and master students.
  • 101 recent graduates got hired by EY Romania in September 2015, this being the highest number of recent graduates employed by a single company until now, and up 20% as of last year. The EY team now employs 655 professionals. Around 60% of the new employees will join the Assurance department, while the rest will be a part of Tax and Legal, Transaction Advisory and Business Support teams.

Over 1600 students from Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Timisoara and Oradea applied for a position at EY this spring. This year’s recruiting campaign was the most complex one so far, and consisted of online applications, video interviews, perseverance assessment tests, interviews with EY managers, and selection through two competitions – EY Tax Academy and EY Mega Days.

By recruiting some of the most talented and motivated young graduates in 2015, graduates for which EY will be the first work experience, the company assumes the responsibility to guide their careers and give them opportunities for professional development.

"The labor market in Romania brings up challenges that 5-10 years ago were not so visible. For example, the number of students has decreased on a yearly basis, reaching to almost half the level in 2008. Calibrating the academic programs to market needs is very difficult, and the pace of change in the economy and society is rapidly increasing. Due to this we have an exceptional human capital in Romania not achieving its potential. We have talented young people who need guidance and support to acquire the skills needed in the marketplace at this point.
Therefore, we have assumed the role of growing a new generation of business leaders by offering numerous development programs and training and work experience backed by EY’s global resources, multinational teams, and best practices,- “explains Bogdan Ion, Country Managing Partner, EY Romania.

According to the surveys on that targeted the most desirable employers, published by Catalyst and Trendence in late July, in professional services, EY Romania is currently the employer of choice in the country and the most wanted employer of the Big4 companies. Also EY holds the first position, and is preferred by young people and MSc students, being perceived as the company with the most attractive and innovative training programs. Overall, according to Trendence, EY Romania ranks 7th in the Top10 companies young people in Romania wish to work for.

"In recent years we've worked hard to convey the EY values outside the company, to young people looking for a job where they can integrate their life principles, aspirations and development needs. Students are very interested in starting their career in a company that is flexible and willing to invest in their development. At EY, the employee is directly involved in building his experience and has the tools to develop continuously. EYU (EY and You) is the platform through which they can create and optimize a development plan based on coaching, training and exposure to local and international market experience. Moreover, EY managers assumed the role of mentors, providing coaching and mentoring to colleagues who are at early development stages in their careers,” explains Andreea Mihnea, Human Resources Director, EY Romania.

According to the Catalyst study, the criteria by which respondents selected the ranking of their preferred employer, included the wages and benefits package offered by the company, followed by the company's reputation, for candidates with an economic profile. In addition, the survey results show that respondents have a growing interest in economics and other benefits provided by employers, such as health insurance.

"We are currently the most sought after company young people want to work for, in the auditing and consultancy business in Romania. This rank among their preferences is the direct result of the investments we make in people - from salary and benefits package, training and certification programs and to international policy flexibility, inclusion and diversity. These investments are those that can stop the <<brain drain phenomenon>>. Our young people deserve to be appreciated and supported in their career in their home country! " concludes Andreea Mihnea.
