DLA Piper Organises Open Doors Day for Law Students

by DLA Piper March 19, 2015

DLA Piper in Bucharest recently held its second annual Open Doors Day for students, as part of the "Iuris Scientia" project developed by Asociația Studenților în Drept (Law Students Association).

The second and third year students had the opportunity to spend several hours with the DLA Piper team, participating in an interactive workshop where they debated on real law cases and were challenged to prove their knowledge and creativity. They met with lawyers from practice groups across the firm, where they were given insight to the most interesting transactions and found out more about being a lawyer at an international firm.

This event, together with the presentation held at the Bucharest Faculty of Law, is part of the process of recruiting third year students for the summer internship programme organised by DLA Piper annually.

Maria Radu, a third year student, commented: "I enjoyed watching a hard-working, solid team that is so lively and enthusiastic at the same time."
Marian Dinu, Country Managing Partner, highlighted the importance of supporting young aspiring lawyers, adding: "After more than six years in Romania, we understand the market's needs and we are recognized and appreciated by our clients. In order to keep on growing and staying among the best, we need young people that are passionate about the law, dedicated and true professionals, with a team spirit.

"DLA Piper is investing in the continuous development of its team, both by formal education and by involving everyone in real-life business situations that allow each of us to gain valuable experience."

Open Door Day is part of Break into Law - DLA Piper's global initiative focused on removing barriers to careers within the legal sector and ensuring young people have the opportunity to gain access and insight to the legal industry. Break into Law involves a variety of projects run by DLA Piper offices throughout the world, including mentorship and training programmes, workshops, scholarships, paid internships, vocational and personal development programmes, exchange of experience, consultancy on resumé updating and on performing in recruitment interviews.
