Simona and Dan Baciu, the Founders of Transylvania College, Nominated Among 100 Romanians Who Move the Country Towards Excellence

Date: 03/03/2014
This year’s first edition of the magazine of global politics, economy and ideas, “Foreign Policy Romania”, includes the Top 100 FP Romania 2013, a list with over 100 Romanian personalities who move the country ahead with their innovative ideas and by having been authentic role models in the year 2013. As stated by the authors of this classification, the people and local actions with international openness were granted special attention.

The top comprises 10 categories: politics, economic, social, education, innovation, culture, media, ideas/ projects, careers/ debuts, Moldavia and international relations. The purpose of making this classification was to prove that our country is not going only in the wrong direction, but in many good directions.

In the education category, the founders of Transylvania College, Simona and Dan Baciu, were nominated, due to the fact that they succeeded to offer quality education at international standards in Romania.

Simona Baciu believes that together with the recognition of the success comes the next step: networking, so that the entire country can benefit of the expertise and experience of the valuable people from Cluj-Napoca.

“We are a handful of people already, we are not alone anymore. We are honored to have been nominated. This is something extraordinary. This recognition proves that both Cluj and Transylvania have the power to change something for the better. ( ... ) Romania is short of "best practice”. We need role models to prove that we can also do well here in Romania. ( ... )

We need to do networking for the benefit of the community. When you throw a stone into the water a circle is created. When you throw more stones, the circles are expanding and intersecting and things are starting to change. I see the change in the people I work with. I believe that this is a very good moment, because there is a lot of negative build up in the public; the values in medicine, health, research, education and culture are beginning to gain weight in the society. It depends on us to change for the better” said Simona Baciu.
