At present an increasing number of companies understand the importance of sustainability and responsibility issues and their integration into business development strategies, as well as in the day-to-day activities. Reporting of such non-financial information also represents a growing trend in the business world. This is generally influenced by increasing demands from shareholders, the general public, civil society and the media, while at the same time, in almost 10 European countries (e.g. Finland, Portugal, France, Germany, Denmark, etc) disclosure of some non-financial information is mandatory. This new legislation sets an official framework for transparency of large businesses all over EU.
