Our Data Protection Task Force has the pleasure to invite AmCham members to a discussion on foreign lawful access and TIA, with special guests Prof. Dr. Lokke Moerel, of Global ICT Law at Tilburg University and Senior of Counsel, Morrison & Foerster (Brussels), and David Rosenthal, partner at VISCHER, co-author of the leading commentary on data protection law in Switzerland.

The online event will take place on Tuesday, December 13th, 2022, between 11:00 am - 12:30 pm.

This online meeting is part of our #DataPrivacyHour and is designed as a follow up to our "GDPR Year Four: Upcoming Challenges and Trends" conference which took place in early May this year.

Participation is open to AmCham Romania members, free of charge, based on prior registration online here, by Monday, December 12, 2022, 5:00 pm. All registered participants will be provided with the connection details via email.

Meet the speakers:

Prof. Dr. Lokke Moerel, of Global ICT Law at Tilburg University and Senior of Counsel, Morrison & Foerster (Brussels)

Lokke Moerel is professor of Global ICT Law at Tilburg University and Senior of Counsel with the leading global technology law firm Morrison & Foerster (Brussels). She provides strategic advice to the world’s most complex multinational organizations on global implementation of new technologies based on privacy/ethics-by-design, digital transformation and cyber security.

Lokke is a member of the Dutch Cyber Security Council (the advisory body of the Dutch cabinet on cybersecurity), member of the Monitoring Committee of the Dutch Corporate Governance Code and non-executive board member of a number of tech-companies.

Lokke received many international awards, and was recently recognized by Global Data Review ‘Women in Data 2022’ for being ‘at the cutting edge of legislation, regulation and technology around the world’

Lokke practiced law in The Netherlands, London, Berlin and recently moved to Brussels.

David Rosenthal, partner at VISCHER, co-author of the leading commentary on data protection law in Switzerland

David Rosenthal has broad experience in advising and representing national and multinational clients in the areas of data protection, technology law, eDiscovery, technology arbitration and internal investigations. He studied law at the University of Basel and initially worked as a software developer, ran an independent press office in Basel and provided his own legal advice. In 2001, he joined Homburger, one of the high end Swiss commercial law firms, as counsel, where he became co-head of its IT practice group. On June 1, 2020, he became partner at VISCHER, one of the leading Swiss business law firms with a particular strong expertise in regulatory and TMT matters (his profile is here).

David co-authored the leading commentary on data protection law in Switzerland (which will soon appear in a new edition), is a frequent speaker at events and lectures at the ETH Zurich and the University of Basel.

He is secretary of the Association for Corporate Data Protection (VUD) and the Cross-border eDiscovery Privacy & Investigations Association (CeDIV) and on the board of the Swiss Forum of Communications Law (SF-FS). See here for Chambers & Partners and here for Legal 500 comments about him.
