#DataProtection Hour: AmCham Discussion with Luigi Montuori, Head of Service for International and EU Matters, Italian DPA, and Luca Bolognini, Founding Partner of the ICT Legal Consulting

Our Data Protection Task Force has the pleasure to invite AmCham members to a discussion on The process of adopting an adequacy decision of the EU-US Data Protection Framework, with special guests Luigi Montuori, Head of Service for International and EU Matters, Italian DPA and Luca Bolognini, Founding Partner of the ICT Legal Consulting.

The online event will take place on Monday, February 6^th, 2023, between 14:30 pm - 16:00 pm.

Participation is open to AmCham Romania members, free of charge, based on prior registration online here, by Friday, January 3rd, 2023, 5:00 pm. All registered participants will be provided with the connection details via email.

Meet the speaker:

Luigi Montuori after qualifying for the Bar, joined the civil service first with the Ministry of the Treasury and then with the Ministry of Economy.

After moving to the Italian DPA (1997), he has been the head of the Legal Matters Department (Communications and IT Networks) since 2004 and acted as Secretary to the Board of Commissioners since 2007. He was appointed deputy to the Secretary General in 2010/2012. Since January 2016 is Head of Service for International and EU Matters. In this role he participates to the plenaries of European Data Protections Board.

He holds a master’s degree based on a scholarship by the National Institute for Foreign Trade and specialized in Legal Interpretation and Computer Science at Rome’s La Sapienza University.

He held courses at Rome’s La Sapienza University (Master di II livello in „diritto dell’informatica” computer law and legal drafting techniques) and at Roma Tre University (Master di II livello in „data protection officer e privacy expert”).

He has authored many scientific papers in particular concerning privacy and contract law in the public sector.

Luca Bolognini - Leading expert in European privacy and data protection law. President of the Italian Institute for Privacy and Data Valorisation (Istituto Italiano per la Privacy e la Valorizzazione dei Dati). Luca is a lawyer, member of the Rome Bar Association and Founding Partner of the ICT Legal Consulting law firm with offices in Milan, Rome, Bologna, Amsterdam, Athens, Helsinki, Madrid, Melbourne, Lagos and partner law firms in 50 other countries. In 2018, he co-founded the cybersecurity firm ICT Cyber Consulting.

Leading Individual Data Privacy and Data Protection The Legal 500 (Italy) 2020-2021-2022. Chambers Europe Ranked Lawyer 2022.

Luca is co-chair of the Europrivacy Certification Scheme International Board of Senior Experts, Expert Coach for the Executive Agency for Small & Medium-sized Enterprises (EASME) of the European Commission, IAPP Member, CIPP/E and TÜV Italia Certified Privacy Officer. In the past 15 years he has published, as author or editor, numerous legal commentaries for Giuffrè Francis Lefebvre, RCS Etas, Rubbettino, and Springer. His last book is «The Art of Privacy – Metaphors on (non-) compliance in the data-driven era» (Rubbettino, 2022).

He teaches data protection law in higher education courses and masters at Italian and international universities and serves as an Ethics and Privacy Advisor for several European research and innovation projects.
