AmCham Romania is pleased to invite members to the 2nd edition of the AmCham -ZF videoconference - Corporate Governance – from buzzword to strategic pillar for sustainable development, on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, between 09:30 – 11:30 a.m.
This second edition of the AmCham corporate governance conference is part of the AmCham #GoodGovernanceMonth initiative and builds on the advocacy objectives under the good governance strategic priority.
In the global competition for resources and capital, the impact of companies on the environment and society redefines the concept of development and places sustainability at the heart of set of values and commitments business adhere to, regardless of industries and company size.
Environmental Social Governance (ESG) is the framework that integrated this new paradigm and the 2nd edition of the Corporate Governance - from buzzword to the strategic pillar for sustainable development reflects the increasing importance of sustainability, focusing on the Governance component of this broad impact assessment framework that goes beyond financial performance.
This initiative builds on the agenda of the AmCham Corporate Governance Committee, the working group in the AmCham advocacy platform that advances AmCham's strategic objectives of promoting good governance and fostering a business-led compliance culture in Romania.
Experienced business executives, business owners and Board Members will be discussing the latest global and local trends and best practices related to Corporate Governance in listed companies, Corporate Governance in entrepreneurial companies as well as related to ESG implementation in day-to-day business operations.
The financial and investment ecosystem evolves rapidly and as it continually changes its aims to balance profitability and sustainability objectives. Global trends tend to impact players in a national market much faster, and business which fail to adapt to the new paradigm in which sustainability becomes a central criterion in the evaluation of companies, risk self-exclusion.
The first panel of the AmCham – ZF Corporate Governance conference, moderated by Mircea Tiplea aims to offer concrete perspectives on how this paradigm shift on the global capital markets is reflected at the level of the companies publicly listed in Romania.
Joins us for an insightful discussion with experienced Board Members and professionals that share their views and answer to questions such as:

Entrepreneurial companies also operate in the same ecosystem marked by structural transformations that change the focus from profit to impact and challenge businesses to integrate these new values in their DNA and commitments since their earliest development stages.
The chances of entrepreneurial companies to become national or global players are directly influenced by the extent to which founders understand and commit to a sustainable development path and are aware of the general expectation in society that a company "does good", regardless of the industry in which it operates.
The second panel looks at the role of governance in defining, adopting, and implementing sustainability strategies in entrepreneurial companies, addressing aspects such as:

Environmental Social Governance (ESG) is already in use and for the companies that have started to implement this evaluation and governance system, it is no longer a buzzword but a reality.
