ARC's Emergency Fund - Results Update

COVID-19 Relief Support

A few days ago, a hospital from the border area only had 7 FP2 masks. They had no surgical masks, no body suits and no protection glasses.

We gather such testimonies everyday, while talking to doctors. They are sent to do the triage of patients without the adequate equipment, even though they are the first responders and are the most exposed to the virus.

With so many situations like the one described above happening in Romania, we have decided to acquire or to make sure medical equipment is acquired where needed, in as many places as possible. At this time, we need 130.000 EURO more as to cover the latest acquisitions.

The situation is dire, and it is urgent for us to increase the testing capacity of our hospitals and to protect those who are in the field. At this moment, the customs don’t have the capacity to test the Romanians that are entering the country, asymptomatic carriers are returning home, where they can spread the virus to their family, and, most recently, we found out that the entire medical staff of a hospital has been tested positive.  We will found the implications of these examples in the following weeks, but until then, we need to make sure that the hospitals are prepared.

In just a week since launching ARC's Emergency Fund, we have managed to find available and trustworthy suppliers, from which to acquire equipment. The success of the Fund is measured in the fact that we have spent all the money from it on medical materials and equipment, which are so necessary to hospitals all across the country.

In the first 7 days, we managed to acquire and are in different stages of acquiring the following:

  • Nădlac and Timișoara: ARN extraction testing equipment + 8000 testing kits - one equipment can process up to 500 tests in 16 hours
  • Cluj-Napoca: components that will render the existing 3 testing equipment functional
  • Buzău: 2 invasive ventilators
  • Făgăraș: 2 invasive ventilators
  • Iași: protective body suits, masks, quick tests
  • Vâlcea: long time protective body suits, pulse oximeter, digital duo control blood pressure monitor, EKG equipment, FP2 masks, stethoscope
  • Galați: 1 invasive ventilator

What we want to say is that we are strong together and only together we can get through the #COVID19 pandemic. And so we urge you to donate to ARC's Emergency Fund, so that we can continue to cover the most urgent needs of hospitals from Romania.
