The Case for Investing in Europe 2016

by AmChams in Europe May 25, 2016

The economic power that lies within Europe has been captured and contextualized once again by Joseph Quinlan’s new edition of The Case for Investing in Europe Study. Being part of the European Union gives us the access to one of the largest economic & trade blocs. In an interesting interpretation, the study shows that no other region in the world has such an impact on the U.S. Companies as Europe does. The cooperation between Europe and the U.S. has a significant influence on the world economy, especially given the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) that the two partners are seeking to conclude. We strongly believe there is a need for education on TTIP at the business community level that should allow businesses to see the benefits of TTIP for the UE at large and national economies, before the TTIP public agenda is captured by topics that are still subject to disagreement between the two partners. The study shows that the transatlantic partnership remains critical for the global economy as the US and Europe are each other’s primary source and destination for foreign direct investment.

We invite you all to read this well-researched study to discover why Europe still matters and leads the way, what are our competitive advantages as European countries and, last but not least, some highlights with regard to the TTIP, a potential game-changer for all of us. Quinlan is betting on Europe’s size and wealth to attract more and more investors, and Romania, as part of the European Union, should stay the course and reach out to its full potential through a number of strategic measures to be taken by policy makers in view of a successful multi-generational country project.

AmCham Romania remains a trusted partner in the dialogue with public authorities, promoting TTIP opportunities and encouraging member companies to have an active stand in supporting this transatlantic partnership, while taking full advantage of its benefits.
