AmCham Romania Launches New Guidelines to Assist Companies to Consolidate Corporate Governance Policies and Practices

The American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham Romania) launches the newest AmCham Guidelines in the area of Corporate Governance, continuing efforts to encourage a business-led compliance culture by promoting best practices and expertise implemented and shared by members in the AmCham business community.

The latest addition to the AmCham Guidelines series focuses on the Process Design & Implementation of an Anti-Corruption Risk Control Management Systems and it was created to offer business leaders, executives and compliance professionals a go-to inventory of essential information for a successful development of corruption risks mitigating system.

“AmCham Romania has constantly advocated for the development of corporate governance in Romania, both in the private and the public sectors, and will continue its efforts to promote a healthy compliance culture. We trust that our latest Guideline will help companies and institutions committed to enhancing their compliance culture to raise awareness internally, to educate employees on all levels to identify and remove corruption risks in their interaction with private and public stakeholders and to foster a responsible conduct both at company and individual level” pointed Violeta Luca, Member of the AmCham Romania Board of Directors, Chair of the AmCham Corporate Governance Committee.

The Guidelines on Process Design & Implementation of an Anti-Corruption Risk Control Management System covers the most significant risk areas, as recognized in both the applicable legislation and the relevant international standards of corporate governance and proposes concrete measures that lead to an effective management of all compliance-related risks.

By outlining how to develop a detailed action plan, how to conduct periodical risk assessments, test and monitor the effectiveness of the implemented plan, the Guidelines enables each company to raise awareness on the importance of a robust anti-corruption management and control system to underline all efforts to create an authentic culture of compliance that will ensure a prosperous and long-term development of any organization. 

AmCham will advance the recommendations in this edition in the dialogue with relevant stakeholders and will invite members in the AmCham community to observe such Guidelines in their efforts to consolidate corporate governance practice and policies.
