AmCham Advocacy Flash: Highlights of Upcoming and Recent Initiatives - Nov 15- 24, 2021

Recent Initiatives:

  • On November 19 the AmCham Digital Economy Committee hosted an insightful discussion with Mayor Radu Mihaiu and personal advisor Andrei Nicoara about the challenges and needs of the Bucharest District 2 City Hall, part of the series of engagements with stakeholders to support the digital transformation of local public administrations in Romania.

  • On November 22, 2021, representatives of the AmCham Corporate Governance Committee met with Rebecca Molinoff and Costin Bogdan Mureșan, US Embassy in Bucharest, to discuss the anticorruption policy of the US Administration in the context of the ”Democracy Summit” (December 2022, U.S.A.). A follow up meeting with committee members will be organized in January 2022.
  • The Labor Committee has agreed on a final set of amendments to the Government Decision 905/2017 regarding the personnel file (REVISAL) and will submit them to the newly appointed Minister of Labor, when the appointing is confirmed by the Romanian Parliament.
  • The Real Estate Task Force is preparing a position paper on the current uncertainties regarding Law 17/2014 regulating sale of land outside of townships. When approved by the AmCham Romania Board of Directors, the position will become available for viewing on the Task Force’s AmCham website section at: https://www.amcham.ro/committee-and-task-force/real-estate.

 


Position Papers:

 

  • The AmCham Education Task Force & the AmCham Structural Funds, Public Procurement and PPP Committee shared feedback on the latest draft of the Education and Occupation Operational Program (POEO).
  • The Competition and State Aid Committee is preparing amendment proposals on the draft law amending the current version of the Competition Law (Law 21/1996). Members interested in knowing more regarding public consultation, are encouraged to write to Ovidiu Croitoru (ocroitoru@amcham.ro) by November 23, 2021.
  • The AmCham Structural Funds, Public Procurement and PPP Committee is collecting feedback on the latest drafts of the 2021-2027 Social Dignity and Inclusion Operational program (POIDS) and the 2021-2027 Regional Operational Programs. If you wish to send proposals and observations on the draft operational programs, please contact Manuel Cazac (mcazac@amcham.ro) by November 24, 2021.  

 


Upcoming Initiatives:

  • The Data Protection and ePrivacy Task Force is preparing an online/hybrid event showcasing to local and EU Parliament Romanian MEPs the importance of reaching a consensus regarding the EU-US Data Flows. The event will focus on presenting government and EU Parliament stakeholders the deep impact the current uncertainty has on traditional business models for international and local companies alike. More information regarding attendance and registration will follow shortly.
