28. First 28. From the first 100.
If there was such a thing as Olympic Games for philanthropy, these 28 people would be among the Olympians. Or, if the words of Albert Pike were meant literally - "What we have done for ourselves alone dies with us; what we have done for others and the world remains and is immortal” - then these 28 people would have big chances to be immortals. And they are only 28 of the 100 who made People for People Gala possible. 100 admirable people who, in the past 10 years, have put others above themselves and offered everything they could- money, time and their good reputation- to limit injustice and substitute what society cannot offer to those in need. They are champions of generosity, models that our society needs, and their stories are worth telling.
Their number will raise this year. On November 13th 2013 we will celebrate 10 years of the People for People Gala and we will discover new admirable people to join the league of the first 100. Although there are no Olympic Games in philanthropy, the People for People Gala is close to the concept: it awards those who helped and inspired others to help. Their success is measured by the changes they have determined, not by the amounts donated or raised.
As each of the previous People for People Awards Gala organized by Asociația pentru Relații Comunitare (ARC) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham Romania), the 10th edition is where those who care and know how to help gather to build alliances.
Michael Guest, U.S. Ambassador to Romania between 2001-2004 and one of the first supporters of People for People Gala, will participate as guest of honor. Special moments are also prepared to mark the anniversary edition of the Gala.
