Topics:Starting with the accession of Romania into the European Union, we are part to one of the widest free markets worldwide the European internal market characterised by the free movement of goods, services and capitals. However, joining this common economic area does not only bring advantages. One of the problems facing this enlarged market is the industrialized production of fakes and its impact upon the health and safety of EU citizens, their jobs, community competitiveness, trade and investment in research and innovation. This is not a problem Romania can avoid, especially since its Eastern border is one of the longest borders of the European Union and it happens to be neighboring countries from which counterfeit and pirated goods originate. The quality of these fakes is now so good that it is becoming increasingly difficult for customs authorities and even right holders themselves to distinguish the real from the fake. In order to substantially reduce global trade in pirated and counterfeit goods, and combat the trans-national networks involved in this trade, counter-measures are being implemented at national, European Community and international level.
This event will reunite representatives of U.S. Embassy in Romania, EC Delegation, largeinternational companies, ministries and other public authorities, as well as specialized NGOs fighting the trafficking of counterfeit and pirated goods.
Simultaneous translation into English and Romanian will be available.
The agenda will be made available soon.
