Roșia Montană Gold Corporation (RMGC) is a company established in 1997 in Alba County (Romania), whose shareholders are the state-owned mining company Minvest Deva (19.31%) and Gabriel Resources (80.69%). RMGC is to develop the most modern mine in Romania, at Roșia Montană, bringing major benefits to the Romanian economy.
As a model mine, Roșia Montană Project will set a new standard for responsible gold mining both in the EU and worldwide. The Roșia Montană mining Project brings 4 billion dollars to the Romanian economy, as a direct contribution, which will lead to a potential overall contribution to the GDP in the amount of 19 billion USD, including multiplier effects – according to the estimates made by the British experts from Oxford Policy Management.
The Project will generate thousands of jobs, complying with the Romanian and EU environmental standards, while helping to preserve and valorize the cultural heritage.
