JTI Romania is a subsidiary of JTI (the international division of Japan Tobacco Inc.), headquartered in Geneva-Switzerland, with over 25.000 employees and operations in 120 countries.
JTI was formed in 1999 when Japan Tobacco Inc. acquired the non-US operations of RJ Reynolds. The 2007 acquisition of UK-based Gallaher doubled the size of JTI, making it the 3rd biggest tobacco company. Camel, Winston and Mild Seven are JTI’s world-renowned brands.
JTI Romania started operating in 1993, as RJR, part of RJ Reynolds, one of the first multinationals to invest locally.
JTI Romania has two entities in Bucharest: Trading and Manufacturing. The manufacturing facility is highly regarded, turning into an excellence center for the whole group.
Almost one quarter of local market belongs to JTI. Our dynamic portfolio includes: Sobranie in the Prestige category; Camel, Glamour in Premium; Winston in the Mid; Winchester, Monte Carlo, More in the Value.
JTI Romania is a pioneer in CSR conducting social, cultural, educational and disaster relief programs. JTI is partner of the most important cultural events and institutions: George Enescu Festival, Transilvania International Film Festival, Sibiu International Theater Festival, Bucharest National Opera, National University of Arts. JTI Encounters (Întâlnirile JTI), consecrated as a cultural milestone, reaches its 13th edition in 2012. JTI Romania also develops one of the longest fellowship programs for young, promising journalists, in partnership with prestigious European media institutions (since 2000). Since 1998, JTI Seniors program conducted in partnership with 2nd District City Hall provides food and medication for senior citizens.
