But that’s just for starters. After decades of undisputed leader in the computer hardware business, IBM has transformed itself into an information technology and consulting services business.

This organizational structure enables IBM to offer a tailored portfolio of products, solutions and services of world-class quality across a multitude of markets.
IBM started its operations in Romania in 1967, providing data and office products. Due to the economic and political situation prevailing at the time, IBM decided to close its Bucharest office in 1980, and was absent from the Romanian computer market until 1990.
In May of 1990, IBM entered the market through its local service organization “Romanian Business Systems” (RBS). RBS was highly successful in developing IBM operations in the country. It soon become an IBM Alliance company, and in 1995 was turned into IBM Romania Ltd., a subsidiary of IBM World Trade Corporation. IBM Romania has offices in Bucharest (headquarters) and Timisoara.
