Extreme Light Infrastructure Conference - A Growth Engine for Romania

by KPMG Romania May 27, 2011

Website www.kpmg.ro

At KPMG, we aim to stimulate dialogue on innovative topics affecting both business and the public sector, and in particular on new developments in the market.

Romanian scientists are ready and committed to building the only European and International Centre for high-level research on ultra-high intensity laser and nuclear physics, with significant participation by the international community. Hence, we are hosting this high level policy conference on this topic, which is at the forefront of science and technology. Our conference on the Extreme Light Infrastructure Project is dedicated to representatives of top Romanian and multinational companies and of key public institutions.

Recent years have been tough for both the private and public sectors and major challenges still lie ahead in 2011 for our economy. One way to promote lasting recovery and sustainable economic growth is to develop the research and innovation potential of our country.

It is our pleasure and honour to support a major project for Romania, Extreme Light Infrastructure – Nuclear Physics (ELI-NP), which offers the chance to develop not only an amazing European Research Infrastructure but also a whole high-tech cluster, “Magurele - Frontier Science City” by fostering public - private partnerships and using an effective combination of private investments and public funds.

The event will take place with the special participation of Mr. Robert-Jan Smits, the General Director, Directorate General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission.

We are pleased to invite you to this event, to share your views on this challenging project which we expect will have a significant impact on science and innovation, and on the competitiveness of the Romanian economy.

The conference will be followed by a business lunch.
