Wolf Theiss Is Ranked as one of the Most Innovative Law Firms in Europe by The Financial Times

by Wolf Theiss November 8, 2016

Wolf Theiss is the only Austrian law firm which was ranked among the top 10 most innovative law firms in Continental Europe by the FT Innovative Lawyers Report. In the categories "Innovation in Mergers and Acquisitions" and "Innovation in Business Development and Knowledge Sharing", Wolf Theiss is "highly commended" by the prestigious European legal ranking.

In the category "Innovation in M&A" Wolf Theiss was rewarded for creating a structure for OBI to take over BauMax through 69 separate deals and long-term leases, protecting BauMax from insolvency. Horst Ebhardt, Wolf Theiss Partner, Head of Corporate and M&A, was commended by the FT Innovative Lawyers Report for leading these complex transactions.
Wolf Theiss also received an award in "Innovation in Business Development and Knowledge Sharing" for an initiative that supports collaboration in the firm. Tackling the traditional problems of lawyers working in silos in their firms, Wolf Theiss has embarked on a systematic programme to encourage its lawyers to collaborate with each other across practices, offices and generations. Among others, it appraises and financially rewards partners for exceptional collaboration and is designed to maximize the firm's cross-selling opportunities.

"We are currently focusing on innovation in all different kinds of areas. We are very proud that the FT Innovative Lawyers Report recognises our efforts for being an outstanding and innovative law firm", said Erik Steger, Partner Wolf Theiss and member of the Management Board. "Congratulations to our team for their successful collaboration efforts".
Now in its eleventh year of publication, the FT Innovative Lawyers Report has become one of the top legal rankings in Europe and the accompanying awards are widely regarded as the best researched in the market. Over the past decade, it has assessed legal innovation in over 50 different countries from over 400 unique law firms and over 400 company in-house legal departments.
The FT Innovative Lawyers Report represents a unique analysis of the legal industry, assessing lawyers on their innovation both for clients and in their own businesses. They base both the report and awards on thorough research and robust journalism.
