AmCham Romania – Supporting Partner of the Roundtable on “How to drive Innovation, Technology and Energy in South East Europe” on the Occassion of GE's CEO Jeff Immelt Visit to Bucharest on May 8

GE representatives, including the global CEO, Jeff Immelt, participated last week in a roundtable debated titled, “How to drive Innovation, Technology and Energy in South East Europe (SEE).” The meeting was co-organized by the Commission of Industry – Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament, and AmCham Romania. The discussion brought together representatives of government, key players from the energy sector, and business associations from four countries, having as common aim to drive competitiveness and growth in the SEE region.

“I have been working with GE for 33 years and this is my first time in Romania”, Jeff Immelt said at the multi-stakeholder roundtable in the Romanian Parliament. “I always delegate many things in a company as big as GE, but one thing I never delegate is global investment, because I think it’s a symbol for the company. The fact that I am here is not a bad thing for you; it’s actually a good thing because it means that I can now envision with the team what investments in Romania might be like. I have a chance to meet the people and see the country, and that’s always a first step in a company. Even in a big company, people matter, your partners matter”, stated Jeff Immelt.

GE, the world’s biggest infrastructure technology company, and also a major investor in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) with 21 production facilities that serve global markets, recognizes the need for ongoing multi-stakeholder dialogue to shape the future of the energy and industry sectors in CEE. As most of the countries here are now working on new energy policies, it is the right time to make bolder decisions on how the energy transition can be implemented in order to boost competitiveness in the region.

AmCham Romania was represented at the event by President Daniela Nemoianu.
