AmCham at the New Perspectives of the U.S.-Romania Strategic Partnership Forum - March 30, 2015

On March 30, 2015 the University of Bucharest organized the New Perspectives of the U.S. - Romania Strategic Partnership Forum under the auspices of the Romanian Presidency.

The speakers’ panel included the Dean of the Bucharest University, Mr. Mircea Dumitru, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Bogdan Aurescu, the Charge D’Affaires ad Interim of the U.S. Embassy Mr. Dean Thompson, Mr. Mike Turner, Member of the U.S. Congress, Chairman of the Romanian Caucus of the U.S. Congress.

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis concluded the first panel emphasizing the importance of the U.S. – Romanian relations and opportunities for further development in multiple areas – business, education, culture, etc. The President’s remarks during the event are available here.


In his remarks, Charge D’Affaires ad Interim U.S. Embassy Mr. Dean Thompson referred to the importance of continuing efforts towards a better business environment in Romania in order to attract more investments including from the U.S (please see link to the Charge’s speech).

AmCham Romania was represented in the second panel by the Executive  Director Mrs. Anca Harasim who outlined AmCham’s priorities for the economic agenda and recommendations for increasing Romania’s competitiveness, as well as the leading conclusion of the Priorities for Romania paper, that is the need for developing a long term country model for economic growth.
