Ţuca Zbârcea & Asociaţii has made up three partners as part of a 13-strong promotion round. The appointments are effective from January 1st, 2014.

Romanian independent law firm Ţuca Zbârcea & Asociaţii has announced that 13 lawyers have been promoted to various roles as part of its annual performance review. It is one the largest promotions round for the firm in recent years.

Cristian Radu, Vlad Cercel and Dragoş Apostol have joined the firm’s partnership ranks, bringing the total number of Partners to 24. Prior to being promoted within the firm’s partnership structure, they all had the opportunity to get involved in the firm’s decision-making process as part of their assignment as Managing Associate.

They have also been involved in major projects and have a great track record of success in co-ordinating some of the firm’s most important clients in complex mandates.

These appointments follow a recent prominent lateral hire by the firm of former Deputy Managing Partner of Muşat & Asociaţii – Cătălin Băiculescu who joined Ţuca Zbârcea & Asociaţii in June this year.

The firm separately made up 10 lawyers to the role of Managing Associate or Senior Associate across its real estate, dispute resolution, energy, IP and corporate/M&A practice groups.
The new Managing Associates are Alexandra Pereş, Alina Ungureanu, Amalia Dumitru and Dan Cristea, while Nisa Jecu, Sergiu Creţu, Ioana Mărculeţ, Dana Blaer, Anca Melinte and Ana Popa were promoted to Senior Associate.

Managing Partner Florentin Ţuca said the 2013 promotion round at the firm “reflects the group’s outstanding legal expertise, deep engagement with the firm’s clients and their ability to grow our business in what has been a difficult and uneven year. We remain committed to further strengthening our ranks at all levels of seniority, including at partner level”.

Cristian Radu has been practising law for the past 10 years, specialising in corporate and commercial law, as well as mergers and acquisitions. His experience includes advising on a range of oil and gas matters, while also being a gaming law specialist, a niche area of practice in Romania. He has recently acted for international investors in relation to their Romanian market entry or expansion plans, such as Sofiprotéol/Saipol, NIS Petrol (Gazprom), Getin Holding.

Vlad Cercel focuses on electronic communications and IT, as well as PPP/concession and public procurement projects, having 11 years of practical experience. He is currently acting on Romania’s largest infrastructure projects (such as the Comarnic-Braşov Highway or the Bucharest (South) Ring Road), while also taking a lead role on a number of projects in the public utilities services. In another recent work highlight, he has acted on Romania’s first network sharing agreement between two telecom operators (Vodafone Romania and Orange Romania).

Dragoş Apostol has gained extensive experience by advising on complex privatisation, mergers and acquisition projects within a wide range of industry sectors, as well as real estate transactions and mining projects. During his 14 years of legal work experience, he has advised on a number of key projects such as the privatisation of Daewoo Automobile Romania with Ford Motor Co. His recent experience also includes a number of M&A projects in the financial services sector, having acted for UniCredit Ţiriac Bank and Piraeus Bank. In addition, Dragoş Apostol assists Carrefour Romania and other real estate investors with the day-to-day legal issues arising out from their operations on the Romanian market, including real estate transactions and development.

Ţuca Zbârcea & Asociaţii now boasts more than 100 lawyers, including 24 Partners.
