Tuesday, December 3rd, the new Robotics lab on the Transylvania College campus was inaugurated in the presence of Mr. Gheorghe Surubaru, Cluj-Napoca’s Vice Mayor; Mrs. Simona Baciu, founder of the school; Mrs. Genoveva Hossu, President of the Parents, Teachers and Friends Organization and the main sponsor of the project; National Instruments representatives and the school’s Robotics team, “The Ro-Bots”, with their teachers.

"The opening of this laboratory is a historical moment because, looking ahead, we know that this is the future of education. That is why we constantly encourage our students to be creative, to be innovative and to think freely. What could be more beautiful than a robotics lab created especially for students in primary and middle school, where age-differences don’t matter, where everything happens out of passion, motivation and love for learning? All of this was possible due to an extraordinary family, who believes in our strong values, in the benefits delivered by the best education. I’m talking about Genoveva and Andrei Hossu who did this to honor the memory of their grandfather, a pioneer in the Robotics field in Cluj and one of the founders of this department at the Technical Institute" said Mrs. Simona Baciu, founder of Transylvania College.

The school’s robotics team, which included seven students 10-12 years old ranked 4th in the regional phase of the First Lego League competition which took place on November 23 in Debrecen, Hungary. During the lab’s inauguration, the students and the teachers who participated in this competition shared their experiences and offered a demonstration with the robot designed and programmed by them.

The lab is a unique learning environment, equipped with the latest technology, providing an opportunity for both the students at Transylvania College and for the children in the Cluj community to familiarize themselves with the exciting world of robotic engineering and IT.
