New application session in the EU Gateway program Romanian companies in the Healthcare and Medical Technology industry can apply for an economic mission in Japan and South Korea

by Deloitte Romania November 7, 2013

The EU Gateway program continues with application sessions for companies in the field of Healthcare and Medical Technologies interested in entering the Japanese and South Korean market. The application deadline is November 22, 2013 for South Korea and December 6, 2013 for Japan. The mission in South Korea will take place on 10-14 March 2014 and the mission in Japan on 26-30 May 2014.

“The Romanian companies in the healthcare and medical technologies sector can benefit, through the EU Gateway program, from the global trend of increased demand for such products, by accessing the Asian market. Moreover, the local medical equipment manufacturers can diversify their portfolio with more sophisticated and tech savvy clients like those in Asia” said Ioana Vădan, Consultant within Deloitte Consultanta, and coordinator of this stage of the program.

The EU Gateway Program is initiated by The European Commission and aims to help the companies from EU countries enter specific high-tech and design sectors. Deloitte practices in the EU, South Korea and Japan offer support and coaching for the companies from application stage until the end of the business mission week. The program organizes yearly cycles of Business Missions until 2014.

The application process has two stages:
1. First, companies need to fill in a form expressing interest, their eligibility thus being evaluated by Deloitte professionals.
2. If they comply with the program’s criteria, they go to the second phase, filling in an application form.

The entire process takes place online, on www.eu-gateway.eu, with no financial effort from the applicant.

Companies eligible for the program must be based in the European Union and exist on the market for at least five years. Selection criteria also include being fully or majority-owned by European Union capital, and having sufficient turnover and employees so as to guarantee the market entry in Japan and/ or South Korea. Companies must also have a proven track record in international business cooperation, and have a “solid” business strategy for entering the two Asian markets. In addition, their key decision makers must be English fluent speakers.

Information on the new EU Gateway Program can be found on the campaign website: www.eu-gateway.eu or send an email to ivadan@deloitteCE.com or jkedziora@deloittece.com. Program operators in the Member States are available to provide companies with further details about the program and the EU Gateway sector events.
