Bogdan Câmpianu, an experienced investment banker who has worked on some of the most important transactions and the largest public offerings in the Romanian market, has joined EY as an Executive Director of the Corporate Finance team, which covers M&A, capital and debt advisory. Bogdan will also be involved in expanding the firm’s capital markets practice in the region.

“The Corporate Finance area is one we are aiming to continue expanding significantly. As the markets are recovering after five years of crisis, the Bucharest office is aiming to lead the recovery – both in Romania and in the region – in M&A. The significant experience that Bogdan brings with him will help us broaden our client base in this area and set up the most specialized team in Romania”, said Florin Vasilica, Partner and Head of Transactional Advisory Services for EY.

Prior to joining EY, Bogdan spent over nine years at Raiffeisen Capital&Investment (RCI), the last seven as a member of the board of directors and as Head of Equity Markets. He coordinated the team involved in the secondary public offering (SPO) of Transgaz (2013) the listing of Fondul Proprietatea (2011) and some other significant transactions.

In approaching his new role at EY, Bogdan brings along extensive transaction structuring, negotiation and implementation experience acquired in large and complex M&A deals such as the acquisition of Citibank retail business by Raiffeisen Bank, a farm business acquisition by foreign investment fund, Delaco acquisition by Bongrain, etc. He also brings the experience he gained in coordinating transactions involving significant stakes in locally-listed companies on behalf of large players such as Advent International, Uniqa Group, SAB Miller, Enterprise Investors, PPF Investments and others.

“The EY network will be a gateway to new opportunities as the market moves towards recovery and growth both in Romania and abroad. The full range of services that EY provides in the advisory area allows us to work with interdisciplinary teams offering added value in sophisticated deals”, Bogdan said.

“One year ago we set our transaction advisory practice on a new path, with a focus on corporate finance, and the results were immediate. Now we make a new step in the development of these services, which are increasingly important in our offer on the local market and become a key component of our organization. Certainly, Bogdan will play a catalytic role in the development of our services in M&A and capital markets, as well as portfolio expansion,” said Bogdan Ion, Country Managing Partner, EY Romania.
