White & Case Acts as Legal Consultant in Raiffeisen Bank – Citibank Romania Transaction

by White&Case March 22, 2013

The Bucharest office of the global law firm White & Case LLP has advised Raiffeisen Bank S.A. in connection with the acquisition of the retail business of Citibank in Romania.

The transaction refers to the transfer of a portfolio of approximately 100,000 customers, including loans, deposits and wealth management products and services, and related matters.

“It has been an Olympic-style race, I believe, for all parties involved. Extensive effort and focus were required for what will most likely be one of the largest deals of the year in Romania. It was a pleasure to assist Raiffeisen Bank in this transaction,” said Lucian Bondoc, Co-Executive Partner of White & Case’s Bucharest office and head of the Bucharest office’s Mergers & Acquisitions/Corporate Practice Group.

The White & Case team involved in this deal was comprised of ten Bucharest based lawyers and was led by partner Lucian Bondoc, seconded by senior associates Simona Petrișor and Raluca Voinescu.

The transaction is pending the decision of the Romania Competition Council.
