CMS has advised MetLife, Inc. on the acquisitions of Aviva Czech Life, Aviva Hungary Life, Aviva Romania Life and Aviva Romania Pensions from Aviva which was announced on 30 January 2012. This complex transaction, which is subject to regulatory approvals in each jurisdiction, is expected to complete during 2012.
The CMS transaction team was led by Chris Southorn, a Partner in CMS London Financial Institutions Group, supported by teams in the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Romania, led by Helen Rodwell, CEE Head of Corporate Practice. The full team involved lawyers in four CMS offices, including Narinder Jugpal (corporate M&A) and Harpreet Chatha (tax) in London, Patrik Przyhoda in Prague, Gabriella Ormai in Budapest and Loredana Ralea in Bucharest.
