The American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham Romania) in partnership with The Chamber of Deputies organized on Tuesday May 17 the event on „E-Government – trends and practical dimensions” hosted by the Parliament Palace. The event was aimed at promoting the development and use of ICT in public administration in view of better public services, democratic processes and support public policies.
On this occasion, AmCham member companies in the area of ICT such as Capgemini, Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Microsoft and Oracle introduced their own e-government solutions and services, offering specific information to Romanian MEPs on e-Government programs successfully implemented in other countries.
„Organizing this event reflects the importance of ICT on AmCham’s agenda. We are confident that a functional e-Government platform will reduce the current bureaucracy level, represents a viable and economic efficient alternative to harmonize and implement public policies in Romania, and contributed to consolidating the state’s democratic processes. Modern ICT technologies allow the public administration to use new electronic services in numerous areas such as education, healthcare, tax collection, population evidence, transportation, energy & environment. Romania has the advantage of a good internet access infrastructure which could be capitalized through the availability of e-Government services” stated Bogdan Balaci, Member of the AmCham Romania Board in opening the event.
