NNDKP Summer School

09/07/2010 I Source NNDKP

Nestor Nestor Diculescu Kingston Petersen (NNDKP) announced today the end of the 6th edition of its annual Summer School program dedicated to third year law school students. During the six editions of a program that has already become a tradition, 110 students completed internships within the law firm, 27 of which became NNDKP attorneys.

In 2010, the program covered an 8 week-period, and 16 third year law students were selected for an internship with our law firm. Moreover, 2010 is the first year when law students were offered internships in cities where NNDKP has regional offices – Timișoara, Brașov and Craiova. Another novel element was NNDKP’s decision to consolidate this program by promoting a very attractive offer for students both financially and professionally.
The internship consisted in intense training sessions that included both theoretical classes conducted under the direct guidance of several experienced attorneys, as well as their involvement in the firm’s current projects. This year, the program was conducted within seven departments and was organized so that all participants became familiar with one of the firm’s practice areas: M&A, litigation, banking and finance, labor, environment, intellectual property, competition. Each student was assigned one or two mentors whose role was to organize and coordinate the activity, to assign tasks, answer questions and facilitate the communication with the members of the project teams, as well as to assess their activity at the end of the program.
“The level of training was very good, just like in previous years, and the interns showed excellent learning abilities and a heightened interest in the subjects discussed during the sessions. We hope that the way we involved them in our activities, the focus on specialized topics and the collaboration with our colleagues familiarized them enough with business law as to decide to pursue a career in this field and become the next generation of attorneys highly recommended by big corporations or international legal guides. Additionally, we appreciate our colleagues’ involvement as mentors, and we praise them in particular for the dedication and effort they showed in guiding and coordinating the students”, states Ruxandra Bologa, Partner and program coordinator.

The recruiting campaign was based on several criteria, including grades, professional knowledge, participation to specialized training sessions, professional projects or extracurricular activities, knowledge of the English language, motivation, involvement, analytic and practical spirit. The recruitment process was part of the campaign “Let your law career begin” and was coordinated by a team of attorneys together with Ruxandra Teodorescu, Director of Human Resources at NNDKP. The campaign is intended to promote the education, motivation and guidance of law students for the purpose of forming a generation of highly trained business attorneys who will provide clients with the highest standards of legal services and who will contribute significantly to the further development of the Romanian legal business market.

NNDKP supports the development and training of young attorneys both through the Summer and Autumn School programs and through the excellence and study scholarships granted to second and third year law school students, which combined exceed 60,000 EUR per year.
