The American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham Romania) announces its support for the Habitat for Humanity (HFH) Flood Relief project and invites its members to join Habitat for Humanity's effort to assist over 400 floods affected families across Romania regain their homes and dignity in the next 12 months.
AmCham Romania has a long tradition of supporting the involvement of companies in the community through corporate social responsibility projects. After seeing the recent devastation resulting from the floods in northeastern Romania, AmCham Romania encourages its members – 300 U.S., international and local companies -- to channel their flood relief efforts through Habitat for Humanity Romania projects which build and renovate houses for families in the flooded communities. Habitat for Humanity Romania is also benefiting from the institutional support of the Romanian Government for this reconstruction program.
“We have chosen to rally members around this project, based on Habitat for Humanity’s history in managing large construction projects and trusting that they address a very important, long-term need of affected families” said Sorin Mîndruțescu, AmCham Romania President.
U.S. Ambassador Mark Gitenstein said, “I applaud the member companies of AmCham Romania for their deep sense of corporate social responsibility, which is a positive reflection of the core American value of helping those in need. AmCham has a strong partner in Habitat for Humanity, and I appreciate AmCham’s strong support so that Habitat will have the resources it needs to assist the victims of the flooding in northeastern Romania rebuild their homes and their lives.”
