Purpose and Declaration of Business Principles

Our purpose is to further establish AmCham as the most broad-based, consensus-led professional trade association in . Although our methods are largely American in concept, our membership comprises leading multinational companies, based in the and Europe (including numerous Fortune 500 and FTSE 100 companies), as well as quality Romanian companies with strong business ties to the and EU. We are firmly committed to assist our members to collectively communicate their important business concerns to the highest levels of the Government of Romania in a manner that facilitates understanding, identification of common interests, practical and transparent solutions, which largely benefit the long-term interests of both the international business community and the Government of Romania.

All AmCham Romania affiliates agreed on the importance of promoting best practices and ethical behavior in the every-day activity, therefore committed to the core values and principles upheld by the AmCham ‘Declaration of Business Principles’.

All members of the association shall:
I. Respect relevant laws and regulations and adherence to the rule of law.
II. Respect the highest standards of business practices in dealing with government officials:
- Members shall arrive at a consensus position prior to addressing government officials on a specific issue
- Members shall be transparent in communicating AmCham positions to government officials
- Members shall not attempt to influence government officials through the exchange of gifts, money, or information.
III. Engage in fair business practices.
IV. Provide equal opportunity employment, ensuring that all employment applicants and employees are treated without regard to their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, color or national origin
V. Follow responsible environmental policies.
VI. Engage in good corporate citizenship and corporate responsibility programs.
VII. Establish the highest standards for:
- Organization to employee conduct
- Employee to employee conduct.
VIII. Ensure a safe and healthy workplace.
