Bucharest, June 16, 2010: The American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham Romania) and the American Chamber of Commerce in Moldova (AmCham Moldova), with the support of the U.S. Embassies in Bucharest and Chisinau are organizing an U.S. Business Mission to Chisinau on June 16, 2010.
The objective of the business mission is to provide access to investment opportunities and the business environment in Moldova, as well as to facilitate trading ties between companies operating in Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
The Romanian delegation, headed by HE Mark Gitenstein, the U.S. Ambassador in Bucharest, also consists of representatives of 24 U.S., international and local AmCham Romania members, and representatives of AmCham and the U.S. Commercial Service.
“We have come here in response to the interest of American companies in the development of Moldova’s economy. For some in our delegation, this visit is an introduction; for others – who have been doing business in Moldova for some time – it is a reminder of the potential this country holds” declared HE Ambassador Mark Gitenstein in opening the event.
The Republic of Moldova is represented by high-officials like Prime-Minister Vlad Filat, First Deputy Prime-Minister Valeriu Lazar, Minister of Economy, representatives of international institutions in Moldova such as the World Bank, BERD, USAID, of the private sector in Moldova, and mass media
A number of companies already running successful businesses in Moldova will share their experiences in strategic areas such as: energy, infrastructure, business financing opportunities, Moldovan tax regulations, the relevant judicial framework, and the Moldovan media environment.
Many companies doing business in Romania also have responsibilities for the Moldovan market, therefore the mission represents an excellent chance for companies to increase market exposure and learn about new opportunities. Moreover, such interactions support the larger objective of enhanced coorperation between Romania and the Republic of Moldova.
In AmCham’s opinion, the proximity of the Moldovan market and the similarities with the Romanian one, can be turned in an important advantage in attracting investments in our country
