At KPMG, we stimulate discussion and debate about matters affecting the business and public sector communities. Hence, we are hosting our "2010 Spring Forum" to invite representatives of top Romanian and multinational companies to meet and exchange views.
2009 has not been an easy year both for business and the public sector. And major challenges lie ahead for the state budget in 2010. Revenue from taxpayers has fallen; the IMF accord gives some support to state finances; and the large amounts available to Romania in EU funding provide a massive potential stimulus to recovery.
Thus, Romania continues to present many opportunities for investors. But, is it still too early to talk about green shoots as far as Romania is concerned? To what extent is our country a destination for Foreign Investments - in terms of business opportunities, fiscal policies and legislation? How does the international business community perceive Romania when fighting with the crisis?
We are pleased to announce as special guest, the US Ambassador, HE Mark Gittenstein will address us. Also, the following business leaders (Claudia Pendred, Country Director, the European Bank for Reconstruction; Sachar Shaine, President of Tuborg Romania and of the Foreign Investors Council in Romania; Sorin Mindrutescu, Country Leader of Oracle Romania and of AmCham Romania; Steven van Groningen, President, Raiffeisen Bank; Horatiu Florescu, CEO, Prime Property Advisers) will make presentations on the theme of optimism for the future as we wait (but for how long) for the green shoots of recovery to appear.
