Priorities for Romania

09/01/2008 I Source AmCham Romania

The American Chamber of Commerce in Romania (AmCham Romania) met leaders of the main political parties to present priorities for Romania, as identified by the business community it represents.

Alexandra Gatej, President of the AmCham Board of Directors says: “Meeting representatives of the political parties before the upcoming parliamentary elections is part of our efforts to facilitate an open dialogue between the business community and political leaders.”

The recommendations advanced by AmCham Romania cover a wide range of fields, such as taxation, ICT, healthcare, tourism, education, environment, energy, labor, and public procurement, and include both suggestions for improving the legal framework and measures required at the implementation level.
On behalf of the business community, AmCham Romania calls for stability and predictability, conditions that are part of the basic package that Romania needs to offer to businesses in order to avoid relocations and unsustainable development.
AmCham Romania representatives and the priorities they submitted were openly received by the parties’ leaders. The meetings were meant to initiate a dialogue which AmCham Romania will carry on with representatives of the political parties, in its attempt to promote the interests of the business community.

AmCham Romania will continue to advocate for improving Romania’s attractiveness and competitiveness through coherent and synergic policies which should be a permanent preoccupation for the political leaders requiring decisiveness to implement, versatility to adapt to ever changing national and international conditions, and vision to find the best mix of measures, policies and implementation mechanisms which will position Romania in a leading position.
